Forest Dwelling

East El Salvador

Fun!

Point fun!

Everything was perfect…we were the only guests, we had our own cabina with two hammocks out front and the friendliest couple looking after us (we were in the middle of nowhere so they were our only source of food)…then THEY arrived. A car load of 8, beer-drinking, snakey surfers with Swedish chicks in tow. Of all the places to come to party, a forest by a perfect right hand point on a decent swell! Continue reading

Beatings & Boatrips

To El Salvador

A boat load...

A boat load…

As with every surf trip, sometimes your timing is just off. For once we found ourselves praying for the swell to drop. After surfing a mushy, or in Rosary’s words ‘a fat lump of a wave’, crowded left hand point (the only option on a bigger swell), we decided to take on the beachbreak…just to get a feel for it. The tide was too low, and swell too big for it, but Rosary coaxed me in. Continue reading

The Journey North

6 Boards, 3 Buses, 3 Taxis, 2 Girls, 0 Spanish

Waiting waiting...

Waiting waiting…

With so much coastline to explore it was time to leave the comforts of South Nicaragua & get back on the road…destination North Nicaragua. Definitely one of the funniest journeys I have ever made. South Nicaragua

Semana Santa, sun-scorched walks & surfing closeouts!

Girl Time

Girl Time

First stop on the three month trip was the beautiful South Nicaragua, where I met Rosary and we caught up with SaltyLip’s crew member India. We stayed in a vibrant little fishing village surrounded by some of Nicaragua’s best beach & point breaks…the perfect first stop for the trip. Apart from the mildly excessive drinking on my part in the first week during Semana Santa (Easter), it was more like a fitness bootcamp….over two hours a day walking to and from the surf breaks, yoga, and India’s amazing healthy cooking and mind blowing smoothies. The Trip

Central America & Mexico

Beachie playtime

Beachie playtime.

After nearly four years working in London, I cannot explain the excitement I felt about doing this trip…itchy feet is an understatement. Three months in Central America and Mexico…unadulterated surf, sun and beach side living! Having spent two weeks in El Salvador in October, it cemented the notion that this was the next trip I would do. Not easy living like a lot of Indonesia, it offered a totally different experience, and some insane waves. Continue reading
