The Trip

Central America & Mexico

Beachie playtime

Beachie playtime.

After nearly four years working in London, I cannot explain the excitement I felt about doing this trip…itchy feet is an understatement. Three months in Central America and Mexico…unadulterated surf, sun and beach side living! Having spent two weeks in El Salvador in October, it cemented the notion that this was the next trip I would do. Not easy living like a lot of Indonesia, it offered a totally different experience, and some insane waves. Scoring some of the best waves I have had in years I was hooked, and the planning began. I use planning in the loosest form. It was more, where shall I start & when, but after so much time off the surf circuit, even that was a hard decision to make. So finally here we are, South Nicaragua to start, and then head north along the Pacific coast to El Salvador and Mexico, in search of epic waves and fingers crossed some uncrowded line-ups (we can still dream).

In a lucky turn of events, Rosary, SaltyLips’ extremely modest Irish charger who I met in Sumbawa years ago is doing this trip too. If anyone is going to push my surfing, she will. We bonded over our love of dogs, penchant for an impromptu party and of course our burning passion to just get out there and surf!

Check out Rosary’s photos from her first 2 weeks in South Nicaragua…
